COLLAGRAPH
In this 4 session workshop you'll explore the fascinating varieties of Collagraph Printmaking. This class is offered for adults (18 years and older) and will meet on the following Mondays: November 4th, 11th, 18th, and 25th from 6 - 9:00 p.m.
Collagraph printmaking is done with a matrix or printmaking plate that has a layered surface that is inked up and printed. That surface is built up with subtle layers of various materials — paper, fabric, lace, leaves, bark, gesso – that are glued to the plate. The collagraph plate can also be incised with lines or shapes below the surface. It’s almost like making a collage that then gets inked up and printed.
Instruction includes detailed demonstrations of step-by-step processes, safety tips with the required tools, on the spot problem solving each step of the way and general information about Fine Art Printmaking techniques, framing suggestions and vendors for materials. You also get one-on-one consultation with me throughout the making of your project and group discussions and constructive critiques about each other's art.
Students will come away with a couple variable editions from at least two Collagraph plates.
